The City of Calgary Proclaims “Calgary Police Foundation Week”

PROCLAMATION

The Calgary Police Foundation is an independent charity supporting community initiatives to prevent children and youth from victimization and engaging in criminal activity. Since its inception in 2012, the Foundation has raised more than $12 million to facilitate programs that deliver effective education, early intervention and prevention initiatives to achieve a safer Calgary.

CPF_Week_Proclamation_May2016Whereas: The Calgary Police Foundation funds 6 dynamic programs impacting tens of thousands of young Calgarians;

Whereas: Youth are responsible for approximately 20% of Calgary’s crime, emphasizing the ongoing need for youth orientated programs;

Whereas: In June, the Calgary Police Foundation is launching the Aviator fundraising campaign: “Look Like a cop. Be a hero.” #Getframed

On behalf of City Council and the citizens of Calgary, I hereby proclaim the week of May 30 – June 4, 2106 as:

“CALGARY POLICE FOUNDATION WEEK”
