  • Youth are responsible for approximately 20% of Calgary’s crime*
  • 16,504 domestic violence calls were received by Calgary Police Service in 2012*
  • Children are present about 50% of the time when police officers respond to domestic violence calls*
  • 14,817 children were assessed by Child and Family Services in Calgary in 2012. 9,772 of those children and 5,270 of the families were investigated as children at risk**
  • Calgary has seen a significant increase in drug and alcohol use as students advance from grade 7 to grade 12. This emphasizes the “importance of targeted prevention.”*
  • 65% of youth say they’ve experienced cyberbullying
  • One in four youth say someone they met online has asked to meet them in person, while one in seven has gone to meet someone they only knew online.
